Mokolea

Depth:
35-70 feet
Access: Shore or Boat Dive
Location: South Shore
Sea Life: Parrotfish, Goatfish, Whitetip Reef Sharks, Lobster

Mokolea is a speck of a rock found south of Moku Manu and is half the distance to Kailua. The islet is a seabird sanctuary and is nearly white from the bird droppings. The spire can easily be circumnavigated on one tank in 35 to 70 feet. The walls of the caves that cut into its foundation are festooned with lobster. Outside the pukas, a community of cauliflower coral thrives, along with isolated stands of antler corals. It is not uncommon to see Whitetips here, and the site has fish galore, with several very large Parrot and Unicornfish, as well as plentiful Ulua and 'Opelu.
