This Week at Aaron's

A big welcome to Jay (Calgary), Chad (Indiana) and Tye (next door in Kaneohe) whom all took the plunge and earned their Open Water certifications, launching them into a whole new world of underwater adventure.

2007 is proving to be THE year for continuing education adventure. We’ve got staff and customers jumping on board to broaden their horizons and deepen their experience. That means we’re seeing DPV’s (aka scooters) all over our boats. Chat with Darren (who may just start his own “Pimp My DPV” TV show) about the specialty and you’ll be itching to cruise around our fantastic wrecks in style. DPV’s are battling for space with cameras galore….woo hoo!!! We love being able to share more of our underwater world with others.

Chuck from Kentucky got the bug, completing his Advanced Open Water, Deep Specialty and DPB Specialty certifications all in his brief stay with us. Then there’s Freddy, a recent transplant to Oahu, whom also recently earned his Deep Specialty and Underwater Digital Photography Specialty. Kit earned her Deep and Enriched Air. Jill earned her Enriched Air, Dustin his Wreck specialty, Anthony avoided the cold in Minneapolis by earning his Advanced Open Water certification here in Hawaii, and Brad is killer at demonstrating his Peak Performance Buoyancy. And, there’s more to come…

A big welcome back to Tim Means, one of our long time dive masters. He and his wife have returned from a stint in Kuala Lumpur. Ask to see some of Tim’s brilliant pictures from all the diving he managed to squeeze in out there. He’s even got a nudibranch gallery as a result. So, look for mild-mannered Tim around the store or underwater and you never know what brilliant shot he might come up with.

And, in the store, we’re all a buzz about Oceanic’s new BC for women, the Hera. This BC was designed by-women-for-women (including women from Aaron’s) and you can feel it. When the ladies in the shop first tried the Hera on there was a collective sigh and broad grins everywhere. It’s the little details that make this BC special, like the padding right over your hip bones and the fully adjustable padded shoulders, the gravity aided weight pockets and the narrower shoulders. On top of that, it’s a performance BC to the hilt. Come on in and check it out!
